St. Mark’s CE Primary School SEN Information

From September 2014 there have been some major changes made to Special Educational Needs. There is a new Code of Practice that will mean some changes for children with Statements of SEN at our school. These will be discussed in detail at Annual Review meetings and IEP review meetings this term. There will also be some minor changes to how SEN children are recorded and identified in our school, but the support SEN children currently receive at our school will not change. When meetings are held with parents this term to review IEPs, we will be discussing this in more detail with parents of children with SEN and handing out leaflets about the changes.

Our policy will be updated on the website by Christmas 2014 to reflect the changes in the new Code of Practice and we will be putting a parents handbook all about SEN on the website too. This will be an easy to read guide about how we support, identify and record children with SEN at St. Mark’s.

In the meantime our local offer and SEN Policy gives you information about SEN. We have also included the governments booklet “Special Educational Needs and Disability – A guide for parents and carers  Aug 2014 “ to give you more information too.

We hope this information is useful to you but if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
